THEKKADY
Thekkady, located approximately 145 km from Cochin International Airport, is a nature lover's paradise nestled in Kerala. NATURE WALK AT PERIYAR TIGER RESERVE
Periyar National Park, also referred to as Periyar Tiger Reserve, is nestled in the mountainous Western Ghats of Kerala, southern India. Located just 4 km from Kumily in the Idukki district, near Thekkady, this sanctuary is celebrated for its large populations of elephants and tigers, as well as other rare species like lion-tailed macaques, sambar deer, leopards, and Indian bison. The northern part of the park features Periyar Lake, a popular spot for boat rides, while the town of Kumily, surrounded by spice plantations, lies further north. ELEPHANT SAFARI
Located about 5 kilometers from Thekkady, this destination offers a unique experience with daily elephant rides through cardamom plantations from 9 am to 5 pm. The Indian elephant, which has been captured, tamed, and worked by humans for over 4,000 years, continues to captivate the human imagination like no other animal. The rafting segment offers panoramic views of forest-clad hills and the chance to spot animals like elephants, gaur, and sambar deer along the lake's edges. The program operates in two slots: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, with packed food provided. OTTAKATHALAMEDU NATURE WALK
4.5 kilometres from the lively town of Kumali, Otakthalamedu sits at a remarkable elevation of around 2000 feet above sea level. This view point offers sweeping views of Thekkady Lake, the Mangaladevi Temple, and even glimpses of Tamil Nadu. The site is blessed with a constant gentle breeze, creating a refreshing atmosphere for visitors. Adventurers can make their way to the Camel Head WatchTower, located a brief 200 meters from the main viewpoint. While the distance is short, the rugged terrain is best suited for those with a taste for off-road vehicles. The ideal time to visit Ottakathalamedu is during the winter months from October to February, when the weather is delightful, and the scenery is spectacular. March to May also offers favourable conditions. For those who enjoy the lush greenery and occasional rains of the monsoon season, visiting during this time provides a unique and invigorating experience.
CUMBUM GRAPE GARDEN VISIT
Cumbum, a serene town known for its fertile farmlands and freshest produce, is situated just 24 kilometers from Thekkady. Nestled between the Varusanadu hills, Kodaikanal, and Thekkady hills, Cumbum is gaining fame for its extensive grape farms, which captivate visitors with their charming ambiance and high-quality grapes. This golden land is ideal for farming, with abundant sunlight and fertile soil supporting paddy, vegetables, pomegranate, and mango cultivation. Visitors often purchase fresh produce from the markets of Cumbum and Theni.
