Kolukkumala is a breathtaking hill located in the Munnar region, offering extraordinary views of the surrounding landscape. This scenic spot is famous for its stunning sunrise views and is surrounded by lush tea estates and majestic mountains. Accessible by jeep, Kolukkumala is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.

To reach Kolukkumala, visitors can opt for a jeep ride through bumpy, elevated terrain. Alternatively, trekkers can choose to walk with a guide through the picturesque tea estates, which takes about an hour. Interestingly, the jeep ride also takes roughly the same amount of time due to the slow movement required on the narrow ghat road, originally built for tea estate tractors.

Located approximately 25 kilometers from Munnar, the journey to Kolukkumala involves 18 kilometers on the national highway followed by a regular road. Visitors can drive their own vehicles up to a certain point, after which a jeep must be hired. The jeep ride costs around ₹3,500 and can accommodate 6 to 8 people. The total travel time to the top is about 1.5 hours. From the drop-off point, there’s a 500-meter walk to the viewpoint.
